Fjords, Ports, and Palaces on Baltic Shores
On a recent cruise on the Baltic Sea, NAA travelers experienced the magnificence of the region’s geographic and cultural resources from the decks of MS Le Diamant. In Russia’s vibrant St. Petersburg, they visited some of the finest museums and palaces in the world. From the medieval lanes of Tallinn, Estonia and Riga, Latvia to seaside Gdańsk, Poland, home of the influential anti-communist trade union Solidarity, alumni and friends of the University observed a rich range of traditions and marked the area’s newfound cultural vitality. Professor Joseph Schofer of NU’s McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science accompanied the travelers, sharing his expertise on transportation systems and infrastructure design throughout the tour. The group sailed on to charming and historical Stockholm and Copenhagen and concluded their journey amongst the spectacular fjords of Norway.
