Northwestern Externship Program (NEXT) offers students a sneak peak at the real world
The Northwestern Externship Program (NEXT) offers current Northwestern students the opportunity to shadow alumni at their place of work for one day, and gain insight into the practical aspects of potential future careers. In its fourth year at Northwestern, this program offers alumni the unique opportunity to connect with Northwestern while mentoring students.
This past spring, over 220 Northwestern students spent part of their spring getting a glimpse of what it is really like to work in their potential career field by shadowing one of over 140 alumni.
Career areas that are highlighted through NEXT are: Advertising/Public Relations, Consulting, Education, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Government, Healthcare, Finance, Law, Marketing and Non-Profit. Externships take place at both nationally and international locations such as Rome and London.
The growing success of this program is directly attributed to the excellent opportunity for students and alumni to network and learn from one another. Host recruitment for the 2009 NEXT program will begin in December and student sign-up will begin in January 2009
