Thursday, September 6   
2:00 WELCOME 

2:15 LC OPENING 
   a.       “State of the State,” History and Overview of Clubs Committee
   b.       Overview of RDs and what they can do to help clubs
     
  Hot Topics Intro         
  Club leaders give a brief comment on how they have succeeded in these areas such as: 

  • A club without dues
  • A club that collects dues effectively         
  • A club with a great succession plan         
  • A club with success with the ETK         
  • A club with a successful growth strategy           
  • A club with a thriving scholarship program         
  • A club that has done something great already with lifestage marketing         
       …making sure that the clubs represented are of different “ages, stages and sizes”     

2:45 BREAKOUT SESSION #1 -- SIZE   
Club leaders meet in pre-determined breakout table groups based on SIZE (as defined by number of alums in their geographic area).    
Each table will be facilitated by one RD with notes taken by a seond RD.
Lifestage Marketing will be a main topic here – in addition, the facilitating RDs will be supplied with “prompting questions” to get participants talking about the other hot topics.

3:30 BREAK FOR CELEBRATION REFRESHMENTS AND MOVE TO SECOND BREAKOUT         

3:40 BREAKOUT SESSION #2 – LIFE STAGE OF CLUB         
Club leaders meet in pre-determined breakout table groups by color…colors indicate lifestage of club (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior).
Freshman group to be facilitated by an RD who has started a Successful club, with one or more staff members sitting in. Sophomore through senior groups to be facilitated by an RD who has credibility with that level of group; another RD will take notes.        
Facililtators will have questions to help each level-group discuss topics of special interest to their club’s stage.        

4:25 BREAKOUT SESSION #3 – SIT BY REGION WITH RDs         
This session will allow all attendees to connect with their RDs and club leaders in their region.  RDs can get feedback from the events so far and reach out for future mentoring, collaborations, etc.           

5:00 GROUP DISCUSSION           
While all attendees remain at tables with their RD groups, a leader will ask for feedback on the session using leading questions such as:

  • What was the most exciting/surprising/inspiring thing you learned in this session?        
  • What are you going to take back to try at your club, based on today’s discussion?

How do you motivate people to change?  How do you shepherd change in an organization?  How do you lead change? Cheryle Jackson, first woman president of the Chicago Urban League talks about what brought her inspiration, how she got  here she is and how she is making an impact on the city of Chicago.

As a Northwestern alumnus, faculty member, university trustee and volunteer, Bill will talk about what keeps one motivated while so involved, one might say consumed, by an organization.

3:45 BREAK         

4:00 KEYNOTE SPEAKER  Lawrence Levy  
Founder and Chairman of the Chicago-based Levy Restaurants as well as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of his real estate development company, The Levy Organization, speaks on motivation from a professional's point of view.  Since motivation is a personal matter, he looks forward to hearing about your interests and how his experiences may help provide insight into enhancing your own motivation.

Kellogg Senior Administration will provide a recap on happenings from this past year as well as updates on initiatives for the upcoming year.

   Alumni Clubs Team
Members of the Alumni Clubs Team will provide information about the past year in addition to updates on programming for the 2007/2008 academic year.

9:45 – 10:30 a.m. Centennial Celebration and Alumni Clubs role
   Speaker: Jane Rodriguez, Director of Centennial Celebration
Be the first to hear about the upcoming Centennial Celebration at the Kellogg School of Management. The goal of the Centennial Celebration is to use the history of the Kellogg School to gain support of the Kellogg mission and future growth, enlightening constituents on the past to properly engage them in the future. Alumni club leaders will learn about their role in delivering this message.

10:30 – 11:00 a.m. Best Practices Update
Speaker: Stuart Ballan (‘01), Alumni Club President, Kellogg Recanati and KAAB member
In Spring 2007, the Best Practices website was officially launched. Since then several alumni club leaders have gained access to
the valuable information within the site.  Stuart Ballan will report and lead a discussion about the recently launched Best Practices website.

11:00 – 12:00 p.m. Kellogg Departmental Updates
Speaker: TBA  Alumni club leaders will gain fundamental knowledge and get an inside look at the happenings taking place around the Kellogg School from key members of the Kellogg staff.

12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Lunch and Alumni Club Awards
Presenter: Roger “Whit” Shepard, Associate Dean of Development & Alumni Relations  Each year alumni clubs who display excellence are nominated and voted best alumni club of the year. Join us in honoring this year’s Domestic, International and Special Interest Alumni Clubs of the Year during a lunch at the Hilton Garden Inn.
