Northwestern alumna Kelly O'Donnell (SESP87) shares the view from the road and reflect on the experiences that have taken her across the country and around the world as a network news journalist. O’Donnell’s "reporter's notebook" includes pages from the war in Iraq, the Presidential campaign trail as well as the "Today" show studio news desk where she is regularly seen on the weekend editions.

Kelly O'Donnell
Kelly O'Donnell covers stories of national interest as a news anchor
for the weekend edition of "Today," as a substitute weekend
anchor on "NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw," and as a contributor
to "Dateline NBC." An award-winning reporter, O'Donnell has
twice been honored by the Los Angeles Press Club with firstplace awards,
and her live coverage of a deadly prison riot in Lucasville, Ohio, won
her an Emmy Award in 1993.
She joined NBC News as a correspondent in 1994,
first based in Los Angeles and now in New York City. Previously O'Donnell
anchored and reported
for WJW-TV, then the CBS affiliate in Cleveland. Her broadcast career
began at WJW-TV, where she was an associate producer, segment producer,
and live reporter.
